1958 Austin-Healey 1006 BN4 2+2
Early-production example
Original 2.6-litre straight-six
Desirable 2+2 seating configuration
Comprehensive service and inspection completed in readiness for sale
The ’50s and early ’60s were a golden age of sports car development. Spearheaded by a few maverick engineers like Carol Shelby, William Heynes and Donald Healey, this period saw some of the largest leaps in design and performance the industry has ever witnessed. The last name in that list, Donald Healey, took all he’d learnt as a fighter pilot and aircraft engineer and applied it to cars. Initially working with Triumph, later Nash and then BMC, he’d make a name for himself as a performance specialist, culminating in the launch to the wildly successful Austin-Healey range in 1952. The rest, as they say, was history.
The 100-6 was the second of the so-called ‘Big Healeys’, gaining a six-cylinder engine and a longer wheelbase to accommodate two additional (occasional) seats if the buyer wanted them. Today, these 2+2 models are very desirable, so we’re delighted to offer this very smart 1958 example
This 100-6 BN4 2+2 retains its original 2.6-litre inline six engine and four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. With a recent full inspection and service, this Austin is reportedly ready to be enjoyed on the road for years to come. It looks in fantastic condition and is complete with Danish road registration in readiness for its next owner.
Period black over red two-tone colour scheme
The bodywork, paint and chrome present beautifully, with no obvious damage or notable deterioration
The paint finish in particular looks very fine, with a deep gloss which reflects beautifully under natural light
The wire wheels, bumpers and luggage rack appear in very smart order
We’re not informed of any known issues with the folding roof
The interior looks exceedingly smart with minimal wear apparent besides a light patina to the leather seats; scuffs on the bolsters but nothing more
The carpeting presents well throughout, as do the door cards and the dashboard
We’re not notified of any known issues with the cabin electrics
The controls, instruments and switchgear present very well indeed
