1972 Lamborghini Jarama 400 GT

In 1970, the Jarama replaced the Islero as the new Gran Turismo in the fleet. With the new 2+2 sports car, the balancing act between the ‘Miura’ super sports car and the ‘Espada’ shooting brake was now to succeed. The Jarama had a modern chassis with double wishbones, stabilisers and coil springs with telescopic dampers. Under the large, flat bonnet was Lamborghini’s main engine of the time. The 4. 0 litre aluminium V12 with 4 overhead camshafts was a stroke of genius by Giotto Bizzarrini. It remains THE Lamborghini engine to this day and can be found in the Miura, among others. Behind the dress of the Jarama is none other than Marcello Gandini, who also designed the Stratos, Montreal, Miura and other icons.

This 400 GT from the first series was delivered new to the USA and was privately owned there in California until at least 2010. The car had been in the Netherlands since 2013 and found its way into a Swiss classic car collection in 2022. Since the import, the car has had a 13. 20a, the Dutch papers are also available. The car is in very good general condition. The interior has a sensational patina, while there are a few blemishes on the paintwork. The mechanics of the car work perfectly and the 350 hp V12 has a very good and direct throttle response via the 6 Weber 40 DCOE. The short wheelbase, the easy-to-operate gearbox and the sheer power make the Jarama a real driving machine. The twelve-cylinder sound rounds off the package. This car is one of only 188 built, making it much rarer than the million-dollar Miura. A rare opportunity to acquire an affordable Lamborghini classic with the legendary V12. The Jarama in its discreet yet exciting colour combination is a car for connoisseurs with a certain understatement.
